Solder suckers, also known as desoldering pumps, are essential tools for anyone working with electronics. This tutorial will walk you through the proper way to use a solder sucker step-by-step.
Ensure you have all the necessary tools and materials:
Note: Before using a desoldering pump for the first time, practice priming and activation.
• Firmly hold the desoldering pump.
• Press down on the plunger until it locks into position.
This initiates the suction of the spring-loaded piston.
Plug in your soldering iron and let it heat to the appropriate temperature. Place the tip on the solder joint and allow the solder to melt completely.
While the solder is still molten, position the tip of the solder sucker over the solder joint. Keep the nozzle close without touching the component leads or circuit board.
To activate the pump, press the side button. This releases the piston, creating a burst of suction.
Note: Avoid using the pump near small surface-mounted (SMT) components.
1. Prime the pump by depressing the plunger.
2. Heat the solder joint until liquified.
3. Position the pump’s nozzle close to the molten solder.
4. Press the side button to activate the pump.
Repeat until the joint is clean. Use solder wick to soak up any remnant solder.
Prime and activate the pump a few times to ensure no solder blockage. For a thorough clean:
